Floyd

Name: Floyd
Gender: male
Breed: mixed

Floyd was found by volunteers at a deserted Island. He used to be a barrel dog chained permanently and was living in his barrel having a chicken as a roommate. He was used as the “alarm” of the entire place, barking every time a boat approached the island, however, when we approached him in order to rescue him expecting to confront an aggressive dog we dealt with a scared stressed puppy inside the body of an adult, a dog almost willing to pack his fears and follow us. So he did. He was brought to Athens malnourished, starving and suffering from several stomach and other health issues due to that.. He was taken care of by a vet and fostered at a temporary rescue facility so as to go through the first levels of training. Immediately after that he was then fostered at a volunteer’a house and has been living with him and his dogs ever since.
Character ;Floyd is a shy, sensitive boy who has managed to overcome most of his fears within a few months. He is house and leash trained. He is quiet at home and gets along well with other dogs, cats, humans… He has adapted to a life that he never knew existed.Due to the fact that he had been isolated and exclusively used as an alarm, he might sometimes recall this when being outdoors which might make him not as quiet as indoors. Additionally he might need a little more time to achieve whatever an average stray dog with an average stray dog story might achieve and this is because his own story was definitely not an average one. Therefore he requires a balanced behavior, not too tough or not too soft in order to provide him not only security to relieve his remaining fears but also the motivation to overcome them. Floyd must have been the most abused animal we happened to rescue from the island but he is also the one that wanted to leave that place most of all and although he lacks confidence at times he is more than willing to recover it at the same time. Finally Floyd deserves everything but he needs almost nothing to be happy.Just these little things where pure happiness hides….like a nice walk and a gentle human touch to uncover his fear and see him enjoy being caressed after a while, as he might have already loved and forgiven humans, however learning that he deserves being caressed is vital for him in order to fully restore his trust on them and himself.
